The revival of the musical « Evita, » which brought pop superstar Ricky Martin back to the Broadway stage, will ring down the curtain for the last time next Saturday, Fox Latino News reports.
The play, which debuted at the Marquis Theater in March 2012 and had its official premiere on April 5, brought theater-goers from far and wide to see the singer in the role of « Che, » the voice of the people, and the story of a woman who 70 years after her death continues to spark passion and controversy.
This Saturday Martin, Elena Rogers and Michael Cerveris will wrap up their appearances as Che, Eva Peron and Juan Domingo Peron.
Following an « extensive search » that found no substitutes for the departing cast, the producers decided to ring down the curtain for good.
